Vince Rucci
Vince Rucci is the current owner of Vertical Runner and founder of VR Training. Vince is one of the most knowledgeable and personable running storeowners in Northeast Ohio. Some people remember your name. Vince remembers your name and your running style, so he can match you to the perfect shoe and clothing.
Originally from Mayfield OH, Vince began running high mileage in 2000 when he was planning to run the Appalachian Trail. During this time he was still in school at Cleveland State University and was looking for part time job. He applied at a local running store, got the job, and in 2003 left to start his own store.
Vince's passion for his work is evident in what he does and even in the name of his store. Vertical Runner has the same initials as Vince Rucci, and that is not a coincidence. Vince is also the Race Director for Race for the Parks, Muddy Paws Trail Races, and Buckeye Trail 50K, and he is the Director of Sponsorship and Development for the Burning River 100 Mile Endurance Run.
Community support and giving back to the running community is part of Vince's true nature as a person. With so many takers in this world, there is so much out there each person can do to make this a better place to live. In all the things he does and all the events he contributes to, Vince never thinks of it as giving back.
"Run until it hurts and then run more", embodies Vince's running philosophy, his leadership and management style, and his approach to life. Inspired by a strong and supportive family, Vince continues to raise the bar on what the running store means for the running community and on what the race experience should be for the runner.
Pure Fuel started when Vince met Bill Bailey through his VR Training Group when Bill contacted Vince about training for the 2006 Akron Marathon. The collaboration of Chef/Runner with Runner/Racer/Store Owner brings a unique perspective and a fresh approach to the energy requirements of the runner. |
